So it started out as a bit of a joke. Of course we couldn't avoid discussion about Charlie Sheen in our Crisis Communications class. Sure, it wasn't one of the traditional organizational or natural disaster type crises that we would normally discuss, but Charlie Sheen was all over the headlines for all the wrong reasons and I wanted to find out what students thought about yet another "Hollywood Celebrity Crisis."
After the discussion, one of the students sent me a link to a Website promoting an internship opportunity. Charlie was looking for a Social Media Intern - #TigerBloodIntern. Of course, I had to foward it to the class - tongue firmly implanted in cheek, afterall it is an eight week paid job opportunity.
Well, Bailey Evans, a soon to be 2011 grad, took up the challenge. Bailey applied for the job. It get's better. This past week Bailey found out she has made it into the third round of the competition, in a field that has been narrowed down from over 75,000 applicants.
In her interview with the Hamilton Spectator, Bailey said, "When opportunities open, you go for it."

Bailey has had a whirlwind week, what with an interview with the Hamilton Spectator and some radio time on 900CHML. She's being stopped in the hall by students, all the while planning and producing a video for the third round of the competition. Each candidate had to answer one of three questions. A political science major, Bailey naturally selected a question related to leveraging social media in an election. The final 50 entries will be judged by "Team Sheen."
